Hello 👋

How can I help you?

Agriculture and Livestock

Natural calcite and limestone (CaCO₃) for agricultural lime, soil pH correction, feed-grade calcium supplements and fertilizer production. 3 grades AY 560, AY 780 and AY 1000 supplied to European farming and feed industries.

Calcite, Limestone and Calcium Carbonate in Agriculture and Livestock

Natural calcite (calcium carbonate – CaCO₃) and limestone are essential raw materials for the agricultural and livestock industries. They are used for soil pH correction (agricultural lime / ag lime), feed-grade calcium supplementation in animal nutrition, calcium-based fertilizer production and hygiene applications in animal housing.

At Aydın Madencilik, we extract calcite stone and limestone from our own licensed quarry sites at our Bursa Gemlik facility. Our agricultural and feed-grade products are supplied to soil-amendment lime distributors, animal-feed manufacturers, fertilizer producers and farming co-operatives across Turkey and Europe.

Agricultural Lime and Soil pH Correction

In acidic soils, calcium carbonate (agricultural lime / ag lime) is applied to raise and balance soil pH. Optimized soil pH improves nutrient availability for plants — releasing locked-up phosphorus, calcium and magnesium — and creates the soil conditions required for productive crop farming. Our AY 780 (80 µm) and AY 1000 (100 µm) coarse-micron natural calcite grades are widely used in agricultural liming programmes across European arable farming systems.

Feed-Grade Calcium for Animal Nutrition

In compound feed formulations, calcium carbonate serves as the primary feed-grade calcium source. It is added to feed rations for layer hens (eggshell strength), broilers, dairy cattle (milk production, bone development), beef and ruminant livestock, and monogastric livestock. Our AY 560 (60 µm) natural calcite grade is used by the European feed industry as a calcium supplement in compound feed and premix production.

Calcium-Based Fertilizer Production

In calcium-based fertilizer formulations, calcite and limestone are used as raw material. Calcium is one of the essential macronutrients for plant growth and also improves soil structure. Our AY 1000 (100 µm) coarse calcite grade delivers an economical raw material solution for fertilizer producers manufacturing calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), calcium nitrate and calcium-enriched NPK blends.

Animal Housing Hygiene and Bedding

Beyond feed and fertilizer, calcite-based products are widely used in animal housing for hygiene management — including barn floor dressing, bedding amendment and ammonia control in poultry and dairy operations. Coarse-micron calcite contributes to drier, more hygienic housing conditions and supports the welfare of livestock.

Why Choose Aydın Madencilik for Agricultural and Feed-Grade Calcite?

Calcite stone and limestone extracted from our own licensed quarry sites are processed at our Bursa Gemlik facility to meet the requirements of the agricultural and feed industries. Operating from a 15,000 m² production facility since 1999, we deliver consistent supply through seasonal demand cycles in agriculture. Proximity to Gemlik Port enables maritime shipments to European agricultural markets in France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Poland and the United Kingdom — supporting both compound feed manufacturers and agricultural lime distributors across the EU.

Agriculture and Livestock Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is calcite and limestone used for in agriculture?

Calcite and limestone (calcium carbonate) are used in agriculture for soil pH correction (agricultural lime / ag lime), as raw material in calcium-based fertilizer production and for soil improvement. In acidic soils, ag lime balances pH and improves the availability of plant nutrients such as phosphorus, calcium and magnesium. Aydın Madencilik’s AY 560, AY 780 and AY 1000 natural calcite grades cover the full spectrum of agricultural and livestock applications.

  • Why is calcium carbonate used in animal feed?

Calcium carbonate is added to animal feed rations as a feed-grade calcium source. In layer hen and broiler production, it is essential for eggshell strength and skeletal development. In dairy cattle and ruminant livestock, calcium supports milk production and bone health. Our AY 560 natural calcite grade is supplied to European feed mills and premix producers as a calcium supplement in compound feed production.

  • Which micron size of calcite is used for agricultural liming?

Agricultural liming typically uses coarse-micron calcite between 80 and 100 microns. Our AY 780 (80 µm) and AY 1000 (100 µm) natural grades are widely used for soil pH correction and agricultural lime applications across European arable farming systems. Coarser grades provide a longer-lasting pH correction effect compared to fine grades.

  • Is calcium carbonate used in fertilizer production?

Yes — calcium carbonate and limestone are used as raw material in calcium-based fertilizer formulations including calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), calcium nitrate and calcium-enriched NPK blends. Calcium is one of the essential macronutrients for plant growth and also improves soil structure. Our AY 1000 coarse calcite grade delivers an economical raw material solution for European fertilizer producers.

  • What is your logistics advantage for agricultural calcite supply to Europe?

Our Bursa Gemlik facility is adjacent to Gemlik Port, enabling bulk maritime shipments to European agricultural markets — including France, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Poland and the United Kingdom. Bulk vessel, big bag and container delivery options are available, supporting both agricultural lime distributors and compound feed manufacturers across the EU.
